Heather Curtis

Assistant Coach

Every gymnast is different and I love figuring out how to connect with each athlete to help them succeed. Fun Fact: I was born in Hawaii but attended Eastern Michigan University on a gymnastics scholarship. My favorite event is bars.

Assistant Coach Heather Curtis spent three years as the UAHS head gymnastics coach (2021-2024) but took last year off to spend time with her newborn baby and two other children. Heather is excited to coach part time this year and choreograph for the Gym Bears!

Heather is from Albuquerque, New Mexico and was a gymnast at Eastern Michigan University where she got her Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science in 2011. Curtis was recruited as a bars specialist and lives for the college gymnastics season! After graduation, Heather spent 5 years coaching at Universal Gymnasts, Inc. and that’s where her love of coaching began. A fun fact about Heather is that she was born in Hawaii and lived there for 4 years! Heather’s youngest child was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) and spent a month in the NICU. Heather is avid about spreading awareness and supporting other moms going through the same CDH challenges. Heather loves reading, working out, beach vacations and adventures with her little children! She currently lives in Hilliard with her husband Don and three children, Brooks, Lucy and Cannon.
